Black Squirrel is an idea I’ve been developing for awhile now.
It’s still in an extremely embryonic stage (as evidenced by the lack of a second verse) but I thought I’d post it anyway. I might remove it at some point but if I don’t, it could end up looking totally different down the road. I just finally made some progress this morning and figured why not?
Beyond these baron trees
There’s nothing left to grieve
Think I’ve had my fill of all this mourning
I can feel something new slowly forming
I don’t wanna stay,, seasons changing anyway
I’ll have to use the things that I know
I’m letting this go
Out on a limb, snow on the ground
Taking its time, a black squirrel comes out
Enveloped in darkness to feed off the light
It’s not how you live, it’s in what you can use to survive
verse
Out on a limb, snow on the ground
Taking its time, a black squirrel comes out
Enveloped in darkness to feed off the light
It’s not how you live, it’s in what you can use to survive
Right now your heartbeat isn’t coming through
But maybe someday I can trace it back to you
Though Nothing much makes sense
I’m climbing back again
Honestly, there’s not much else to do
Out on a limb, snow on the ground
Taking its time, a black squirrel comes out
Enveloped in darkness to feed off the light
It’s not how you live, it’s in what you can use to survive
So drifting in silence
We’re finding our way
With distances growing
They mirror each day
Our lives move in cycles
It’s hard to explain
We’ll crawl through the winter
To finally resurface again
We’ll finally resurface again
Finally resurface again
