We never tend to question why
Our mouths remain so frozen shut
A life's work made in winter time
As whistful lay the summer dust
With what cannot be simply changed
These fickle rules that someone made
While harvest calls for frosted lawns
Now sunlight fades, all sunlight fades
Soon the seasons pass away
Our weathered vessels can't escape
Gone to come around someday
And though I've never thought of faith
It's surely thought of me
We never see the moonlight swell
As age runs ragged, frayed and raw
Truant hearts to flee those bells
From whistful seasons, youth still flawed
For what cannot be simply changed
In normal waves, some normal waves
Soon the seasons pass away
Our weathered vessels can't escape
Gone to come around someday
And though I've never thought of faith
It's surely thought of me
Innocent, the waking eyes
All opened up to breathe
Bathed inside the morning light
With so many false beliefs
Some knowledge leads to weakness
All inabilities to see
That everything you think you want
Is rarely what you need
It's rarely what you need
