If Only

As the dim light of the sunset
Breeds a glow to match her gaze
It could light up all the laugh lines
From our warn and better days

But now the air hangs heavy
With the skies all turning gray
While the autumn rain commences
I can't help but turn away

Something else is always 'round the corner
Shocking but it sure ain't no surprise
If only I could make it back to warn her
If only I could see her one more time

Every chill forged through in autumn
With some colours trained to fade
To a snow bed made in winter
Showing off their last parades

Her eyes, they aren't so soft now
So instead they speak their age
In youthful love and memory
When unwritten sat the page

Something else is always 'round the corner
Shocking but it sure ain't no surprise
If only I could make it back to warn her
If only I could see her one more time
