Wildfire

How can you tell your children to reach for the sky?
With no course of action, while the privileged don't have to try
It won't get any better even after it gets much worse
From their birth to the grave, just a slave to a failed man's worth

Is it cause for a riot? Is it cause for concern?
Were we setting off a fire when we didn't stop to learn?
I don't want your excuses because it's all so unclear
Well these questions can't serve justice if there's no justice here

So where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here, my friend?

Where do we go from here?
We're raising our hands in fear again

How can you breathe, not knowing if you're really safe?
When this one false step could be the very last one you take
Nothing changes their tune, even if you're lying in the dirt
With this oath to betray, just a slave to the wrong man's curse

It won't justify violence, it won't justify hate
You can't put out a fire when you keep fuelling the flames
Now I'm looking for answers because it's all such a mess
If you're building up a dream, well you can't live in unrest

So where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here, my friend?

Where do we go from here?
We're raising our hands in fear again

Divided lines keep blurring
It was all a powder keg
Now I'm sick of them assuring us
That everything's okay

While sheltering this ignorance
By what we choose to see
We've been left to deal in shadows
For the simple things we need

It's a simple thing we need
But we're all dying to be free
